Late summer plans......
After a very exciting friends and family reunion for our 45th wedding anniversary, Marcy and I still have a few plans for the rest of the summer and fall.....gotta get all this done before the snow flies again!
We had a wonderful visit with Carole (my 2nd cousin) and Baron as they passed through South Dakota on their way to Minnesota. The focus of our visit was comparing notes on our geneological work.....lots of interesting pictures and information were exchanged....Thanks Carole & Baron, for a wonderful visit!
The end of July will find us traveling to North Dakota for the wedding of Cory and Melissa. Cory is the son of Marcy's cousin Larry. Surely that will be a fun time as we once again mingle with family and friends.
The middle of August we will be taking our annual trip to the North woods of Wisconsin. Marcy's brother, Jerry and his wife Nancy, have a summer home near Merrill. We will all be going to the "Tall Ship Festival" in Green Bay, and we even have tickets for a cruise on one of the ships! Cool! On the same trip we will be making several stops at other relatives and friends. Maybe even work in a stop at a casino or two, just for fun.....
September's schedule includes a drive to Castle Rock, Colorado to visit with son Mark. Mark will join us on a train ride from Denver to Grand Junction and return over the weekend. We hope the fall colors will be near peak and we will be able to view the aspen trees in the Rockies as they display their color change.
The first weekend in October we will travel to Ankeny/DesMoines Iowa. Marcy will be recognized at an awards banquet for her years of dedicated service to her employer. The best part is they will pick up the tab for this trip....LOL! Also on this trip we will visit the "Grotto of the Redemption" at West Bend, Iowa.
I would like to plan one more excursion in October, before the long South Dakota Winter sets in....Hmmmm.....there has got to be someplace that will beckon us......perhaps a weekend road trip to Omaha to visit son James and his wife Kris....Of course, as the effects of "Winter cabin fever" set in, we will try to schedule a trip or two to visit Jerry and crew in Sunny Florida......that is always the best part of Winter!
