Autumn Leaves, Punkins and Spooks…….

Autumn On the Prairie

On a cool prairie morning, as daylight’s just breaking,

The air is so crisp and the world’s awakening.

The sun is rising on the horizon so distant,

It seems to hesitate, and wants some assistance.

The sun breaks its bond with the horizon at last,

Painting colorful clouds on a sky that’s so vast

The birds begin chirping and seem to be saying,

Get up and join us, it’s time to start playing!

.

The wind gently whispers good morning to all,

But the chill in the air reminds us it’s fall.

The leaves do a dance as they float in the air,

Soon the tree branches all will be bare.

Jack Frost will visit us one of these days,

Leaving his mark wherever he plays.

Snowflakes will swirl and fall to the ground,

Telling us Winter is coming around.

We’re blessed to be part of this world of ours,

We know it was made by much greater powers.

On a cool Prairie morning, as daylight’s just breaking,

We know that this day is our Savior’s making.

We had a beautiful display of fall colors in the area this year……Really no need to travel to a distant place to enjoy them! It was fun to take the camera and capture some of it!

A special weekend in Iowa……

Marcy (and I) have been looking forward to this little road trip! Marcy’s employer sponsors an awards banquet in honor of its employees for accomplishing various milestones in their careers……Marcy has completed 15 years of service…..best part is it is an all expenses paid occasion, including the hotel, a huge banquet and beverages. My kind of trip! At any rate, it was a delightful weekend!

We left home on September 30, and leisurely made our way…..a little fall color showing up in Huron as we left…..

DSC00003

we were in Minnesota for a short time, not long enough or the right area for any really scenic stops, so I just took a couple pictures of pictures at the Minnesota Welcome rest area just East of Sioux Falls….

The LAKE OKOBOJI AREA is nice, albeit it appears to be somewhat of a touristy area…..We took a short break…..
