Busy, busy, busy…….

wow, lot’s going on since my last post here……company coming, dogsitting, state fair, connecting with long-lost cousins on facebook, etc……throw in the routine stuff around home, and time flys!

Son James and Kris stopped by on Thursday, August 26, and we had a nice long visit…James is proud of his new Nikon D90 and new lenses that he recently pulled the trigger on…..They returned home after a visit to Kris’s family in Minnesota and he said he had taken over 1200 pictures that weekend!

Lisa and Jeff and the twins stopped Saturday, August 29 on their way to Sioux Falls to take in the “Lifelight” Christian concert near Sioux Falls….We took in their foster dog, “Stanley” while they were there…….here’s Stanley….

Stanley is a joy to “doggie-sit” ….he is very well trained and knows a lot of tricks…..He was probably a little spoiled when he left us…..

Marcy’s cousin Jerome and Karen arrived on Saturday also….they enjoy coming down for the South Dakota State Fair…..we made a couple trips into the fair and of course enjoyed some “FAIR FOOD”…..I managed to hold myself down to a Grilled brat with sauerkraut, a WonderBar (ice-cream) and a traditional foot-long hotdog……I only gained 2 pounds, and I have already worked that off, so all is well….

Here’s a few pics of the fair……

This guy was a juggler…he wowed the crowd by juggling blazing fire sticks while riding his three-wheeled unicycle!

Jerome said he wanted to experience the smell of cattle, so we went through a few display barns……the cattle were kinda bored…..

This statue looking cowboy had a crowd of admirers….

But when I held out a dollar bill, he came to life! LOL!

After the fair we drove down to one of the famous Forestburg Watermelon Stands” and made some purchases…..We polished off a fresh Cantaloupe when we got home, and Marcy & I baked a squash later…mmmmm….good stuff!

May have to make another trip down there before the season is over…….  mmmmmmmm……

  1. A 3 wheeled unicycle? I've never heard of such a thing.

Did you bump into any of our old workmates at the fair? Be sure and tell them I said hello next time you do.

  2. Hey Kevin, that's the first 3 wheeler unicycle I've seen also....he did talk about it a little bit....it was quite a trick in itself getting up on it.....Haven't seen any former FSS types for a while, but Marcy sees them occasionally when they stop at Casey's for gas, or in WK's case, doughnuts....lol!
